Kennett High School Swim Team Rules and Expectations
KHS Rules for Athletic Teams Participation: All swim team members and their parents, are expected adhere to:
In addition, the following guidelines specific for the Kennett Swim Team are in affect.
Communication: The team website address is khsdemonswimming.weebly.com. This should be your go to for information regarding the team. All swimmers and parents are required to join team snap. This app is the primary means of team communication including RSVP for meets.
Most issues that come up during the swim season can be eliminated through clear lines of communication. In order to help the coaches manage the team, it is essential to communicate issues that affect a swimmers participation with the team: Injuries or illnesses, taper schedule, problems with grades, impending papers and class projects due, vacations, club swim meets, family/school/church commitments. Email is the preferred means of communication and if further discussion is required we will set up a time to meet in person. You can contact Coach Cindy at [email protected] or Coach Steve at [email protected].
Meet Attendance: All dual team meets are mandatory. We understand that there are situations which interfere with meet participation. Allowances will be made on a case by case basis.
Practice Attendance: There are five KHS practices offered weekly Monday through Friday. Minimum attendance requirement is three practices per week, but you may attend as many as you like. We generally do not practice on dual meet days. Attendance is taken during warm-up every day at practice. Please try to schedule all appointments, work, etc. with the practice requirement in mind. Practices are not just training sessions, they are teaching sessions. We teach different skills every day and the only way to guarantee you will learn the skills you need is by being there. We understand that there are sometimes situations when a swimmer cannot attend and in these cases communication is a must. Swimmers who do not meet the practice requirement risk removal from competition and ultimately from the team.
Club Swimmers Practice Attendance: Club swimmers practice with their club teams, but must meet the minimum practice requirement: three practices weekly. If your club program is less than 3 practices - you must attend a KHS practice to meet the requirement. ALL club swimmers are required to attend at least one KHS practice per week. If there is a swim meet, that meet will replace the practice as the required weekly attendance.
Meet Schedules: Meet schedules are posted on KCSD Athletics and on Team Snap. Practice schedules are set for the season and posted on the website. You will be notified of meet changes via team snap notification.
Meet Attendance RSVP: Swimmers must RSVP on team snap for all meets five days in advance of the meet date. DO NOT RSVP maybe. All “NO” RSVPs must be explained in the note section of the rsvp - indicated by a pencil icon. If your RSVP changes after within 5 days of the meet - please notify Coach Cindy via email. Line-ups for meets take a lot of preparation and are very time consuming. Please be considerate of the efforts to put a great line up together for the team. .
AWAY Meets: Busses are provided for away dual meets. Swimmers are expected to ride the buses to the meet. Exceptions will be made when circumstances warrant, but this must be arranged prior to the meet day. A swimmer must provide a note signed by a parent if they are not going to return from an away meet on the bus. In this case, they must sign out with the assistant coach prior to departing the meet.

Sportsmanship: Swimming is a non-contact sport that has a culture of a team cheer at the beginning and end of the meet, shaking hands before races with your opponent, waiting in the water until all swimmers have finished and shaking hands with opponents in neighboring lanes, and shaking hands with the entire team after the meet. It is expected that all members of the team, remain in uniform and stay until the end of the meet to cheer on and support their team.
